Pappardelle are considered a type of lasagna, in the generic sense of “wide strips of egg puff pastry“.

Why are they called pappardelle?

Many believe that egg pappardelle also have Romagna-Emilian origins while instead they originate in Tuscany, more precisely in Maremma. The term “pappardella” in fact derives from the verb in Tuscan dialect “pappare”, meaning to eat.
